Australian run-machine Steve Smith has rated his great Indian rival, Virat Kohli, as the best ODI batsman in world cricket currently.
The two batsmen, who will face off in the upcoming IPL as well as later this year during India’s Australia tour, were formidable rivals on the field but shared good ties off the field. During an Instagram session with fans, Smith, who is currently in England for the three-match ODI series against the hosts starting Friday, said this.
When a fan asked the 31-year-old Australian to name the best ODI batsman, Smith had no hesitation in taking Kohli’s name.
Currently, the Indian captain is the top scorer of active cricketers in ODIs with 11867 runs at an average of 59.34. He has 43 hundred in his name and for most hundreds in ODIs is just seven away from surpassing Sachin Tendulkar’s world record. Virat Kohli leads the run charts in Australia and is considered one of the best performers by cricket betting sites.

Smith, who is set to represent Rajasthan Royalist in IPL 2020, said the two players to watch out for are India’s KL Rahul and Sanju Samson.
Smith said, “Terrific guy,” about his Rajasthan Royals teammate Jos Buttler, who was in terrific form in the recent T20I series against Australia. Hopefully, no runs this week against us, so he can score as much as he wants in the IPL. After the ODI series against England ends on September 16, Smith will join the Rajasthan Royals squad at UAE.
