Every year the NFL asks players to submit votes ranking the best of the best in their sport.

This list is still a subject of conversation and everybody likes rankings and arguing whether one player is better than another. And it brings an additional dimension of suspense that the players themselves voted because there is no one writer you can aim your rage against.

Even going beyond the debates, making the list has some quality. Players that reach the Top 100 are rewarded, and by enhancing themselves year after year, they can feel a sense of success.

NFL Top 100 list

Lamar Jackson earned the No. 1 spot on the NFL Top 100 list, as voted on by the players. Following him was fellow quarterback Russell Wilson, Rams pass rusher Aaron Donald, Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes and Saints wideout Michael Thomas.

 

The Top 10 players were mostly offensive skill positions with just two defensive players — Donald and Patriots cornerback Stephon Gilmore. While the list was voted on by the players, not every NFL player participated.

With seven each, the Ravens and Saints had the most teams. No Bengals, Dolphins, Jaguars, Lions, Jets or Washington Football Team players made the list. There were still no players from special teams, such as kickers, punters, long snappers or return specialists.
