The 2022 FIFA WORLD CUP, which will be the 22nd one on the list of International Football tournaments, is going to take place in Qatar. With the population of 2 million people, Qatar will be the first Arab Country to host such a big event.

Being the host country, Qatar is all set to make the best preparations and to have its stadiums well equipped and organized. Qatar plans to have its stadiums with the most seating capacity and to make arrangements suited with its climatic conditions. For this big event, Qatar will build 9 new stadiums and will renovate 3, with 12 venues divided among 7 host cities. Al-Daayen, Al-Khor, Al-Rayyan, Al-Shamal, Al-Wakrah, Doha and Umm Salal are the 7 host cities where this FIFA World Cup will be held. But, here, what we find astonishing is that after the World Cup it has been planned that these Stadiums in Qatar for FIFA World Cup 2022 will be dissembled, the parts of which will be then be taken to developing countries to make 22 new stadiums.
Talking about Qatar’s proposed stadiums; the first five were revealed at the beginning of March 2010. The two stadiums that would have been built, irrespective of Qatar being awarded with the World Cup, are the Al-Wakrah and Al-Khor stadiums. Other than these two stadiums, Sports City Stadium, Khalifa International Stadium, Lusail Iconic Stadium, Al Shamal Stadium, Umm Salal Stadium, Qatar University Stadium, Al Rayan Stadium, Al Gharafa Stadium, Education City Stadium and Doha Port Stadium are the remaining ones.

The stadiums will be employed with cooling technology to lower down the temperature by up to 20°C. The five stadium projects launched have been designed by the German architect Albert Speer & Partners. Also, in the stadiums for, both, the players and the spectators, both, the air conditioning system will be solar powered and carbon neutral. Hence, it is said that the preparations at the stadiums will be made such that solar radiations and warm winds be reduced, and the provision of soft air conditioning is also envisaged.

- Al Khor Stadium – City: Al Khor, Capacity: 45,330.
- Al Shamal Stadium – City: Ash Shamal, Capacity: 45,120.
- Al Wakrah Stadium – City: Al Wakrah, Capacity: 45,120.
- Umm Salal Stadium – City: Umm Salal, Capacity: 45,120.
- Doha Port Stadium – City: Doha, Capacity: 44,950.
- Education City Stadium – City: Al Rayyan, Capacity: 45,350.
- Al Gharafa Stadium – City: Al Rayyan, Capacity: 21,282.
- Al Rayyan Stadium – City: Al Rayyan, Capacity: 21,282.
- Qatar University Stadium – City: Doha, Capacity: 43,520

Two more stadiums are in planning, located in the Ras Abu Aboud and Al Thumama areas in Doha, but designs have not been released yet. Further stadiums have been proposed to get to a total of 12 stadiums, but these have not been confirmed yet and are unlikely to all get built. FIFA requires a minimum of 8 playing venues.
