The Springboks issued an early warning by breaking out of their 22 from the kick-off, quickly earning a penalty after advancing down the left wing. A high tackle by Tupou Vaa’i in the second minute allowed Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu to step up and secure the first three points of the match from a favourable position.
An interception by Eben Etzebeth delayed the All Blacks‘ initial scoring opportunity, but they managed to capitalise in the eighth minute by overloading the left edge for the second time, getting into scoring range. Codie Taylor then executed a clever line, receiving the ball with enough space to cross the try line.
New Zealand made two more advances, but South Africa thwarted them with turnovers, while Feinberg-Mngomezulu’s agility injected energy into a robust Springbok offence. With the Bok set-piece maintaining its usual precision, the South Africans surged ahead and scored through centurion Damian de Allende.

“I also want to extend my gratitude to the New Zealand supporters — thank you for visiting our beautiful nation and for embracing our culture,” Kolisi continued, referencing the initial three matches of the series held in South Africa. “While we compete fiercely on the field, the mutual respect we share is significant.
“We have Rassie with us. When he speaks, he reminds us of our roots and the nation we represent. We play for those players who are injured, those who are not participating, and those who could not join the tour. We also play for the people of South Africa.”
