End of an era in Liverpool: Salah and Robertson say goodbye as questions linger for the future.
Saddest story for Liverpool Fans: Salah couldn’t bring himself to say goodbye. Twenty minutes after the referee blew the final whistle, marking the end of his Liverpool journey, Salah stepped onto the Kop and received the appreciation of his fans.
It had taken nine years, 442 matches, and 257 goals to get to this point. However, he certainly wouldn’t be alone. Throughout his stint at Anfield, Liverpool fans have embraced Salah with open arms, and in return, he has gifted them some unforgettable moments.
Liverpool FC: Mo Salah is the Greatest Liverpool Player of All-Time
That, too, can be said for Andrew Robertson, another great individual who is also saying his farewells from Liverpool after spending nine incredible seasons with the club and becoming one of its best defenders ever.
The Liverpool players gave guards of honour to Salah and Robertson during their substitutions and also afterwards when both players received personal “Champions’ Walls” from Sir Kenny Dalglish. It is evident that Salah was in tears after realising the magnitude of the achievement as soon as the match ended, but later on, he was smiling as he posed for selfies with the fans. Robertson kept some distance and relished his time while receiving all the glory, and said farewell at the same time. “I think I cried more than in my whole life,” Salah said on Sky Sports.
Both players are leaving a club that has the Champions League income for their summer transfers, but also has many questions left behind.
