The BCCI is yet to make a formal announcement for IPL 2025 Mega Auction, as far as the date and venue are concerned.
The final list of players to be retained by each of the ten Indian Premier Leagues (IPL) is about to be announced. According to reports, the player retention list must be submitted by October 31st in order to be considered for the IPL 2025 mega auction. The IPL super auction is scheduled to take place in the final week of November, as reported by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). On the other hand, the BCCI has not yet formally announced the date or the location.

The auction is scheduled for November 30, according to a story published by the Times of India (TOI). According to the source, “there is a possibility of the Indian cricket board hosting it in Dubai.” The IPL 2024 auction took place in Dubai last year.

What is the updated retention policy?
Franchises now have greater flexibility under the new rule. Teams can now allocate this money anyway they see fit among the five players, even though the total retention budget of INR 75 crore for the five capped players is the same.
As long as they stay under the INR 75 crore cap for all five retentions, a franchise can now choose to give one player more money and another less.
The deadline for the ten teams to finalise their retention list was originally set by the BCCI on October 31. The IPL Governing Council (GC) has allowed teams to keep up to six players from their current rosters via retention and Right to Match (RTM), which has been returned for this auction with a few minor changes.
At the latest IPL auction, Australia’s skipper Pat Cummins and pace teammate Mitchell Starc broke records by selling to Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 20.5 crore and Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 24.75 crore, respectively. Starc became the most expensive player in IPL history.
