Following Team India’s defeat in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 final against Australia, there is much conjecture about Rohit Sharma’s future in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 in the United States and the West Indies.
Rohit, India’s most capped male T20I player, has reportedly opted to retire from playing the shortest format games in Indian colors. The veteran player addressed his T20I future with BCCI sources prior to the start of the ODI World Cup.

Mr. Rohit Sharma Unlikely to Compete in the T20 World Cup in 2024 Since India’s T20 World Cup semi-final exit in November 2022, the Mumbaikar hasn’t played a single game in the shortest format, and all-rounder Hardik Pandya has primarily captained Team India in T20Is since then. The 36-year-old hitter has appeared in 148 Twenty20 Internationals, scoring 3853 runs at a strike rate of over 140 with four hundreds.
