Totti had just turned 25 when he captured the Serie A championship in 2001. When he was in his heydey, many people believed he would win enough medals to fill Roma’s trophy cabinet. But in terms of football, glory never rests beside the Tiber. Totti, who in the meanwhile had rejected the Galacticos at Real Madrid, decided to remain trying with his favorite club until the conclusion of his playing days when Roma failed to win another championship.
Despite having had a terrible leg injury just three months earlier, he nonetheless won the 2006 World Cup. Despite suffering a serious injury, the Italian played in every World Cup game and contributed four assists (no one made more), as well as making the game-winning penalty kick against Australia in the round of 16.

He won the European Golden Shoe in 2006/07 for scoring 32 goals, his biggest tally in a season. Totti was named the Serie A Italian Footballer of the Year on four occasions and he twice won the Serie A goal of the year.
Roma’s main man was also a crucial cog in Italy’s 2006 World Cup-winning side. Totti was the top assist provider in the tournament and he scored a 95th-minute winning penalty against Australia in the Round of 16.
He scored nine goals for Italy across 58 matches from 1998 to 2006.
Totti will forever be remembered as a legend of the game.
