Ronaldo beat Lionel Messi and Neymar to win his second consecutive FIFA Best award
There was no question about it as even many of football’s major personalities had chosen Cristiano Ronaldo as the deserved winner of The Best FIFA Men’s Player 2017 award. Ronaldo beat Lionel Messi and Neymar who finished second and third respectively.
The Portuguese forward had a year to remember as Real Madrid became the first team to defend the European Cup in the Champions League era while Los Blancos also made it a double with a La Liga win. Ronaldo was the club’s top goal scorer and grabbed goals and hat-tricks when it mattered the most last season.
Accepting the award in the presence of legends of the game – Diego Maradona and Ronaldo Nazario – Cristiano first spoke in Portuguese before switching to English to thank everyone from the club, his team and his coach Zinedine Zidane for everything he had achieved in the past year.
