With four back-to-back games in Mullanpur, Kings will hope home comforts help them get out of the mid-table points jam
Although Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings appear to have had very similar IPL trips thus far (two victories from four games and a mid-table position in the points standings), their paths there could not have been more dissimilar. Before Monday’s CSK vs. KKR match, Sunrisers had been the second-fastest batting side in powerplays in IPL with a run rate of 11.66. In contrast, Kings had been the second-worst bowling team in the death overs (17–20) with a run rate of 12.65.

Team news and Impact Player strategy
Kings were without Liam Livingstone in their last game because of injury. He was replaced by Sikandar Raza, who couldn’t make an impact with either bat or ball against Gujarat Titans. Livingstone resumed training with the team on Monday but is still being assessed.
Numbers that count: Cummins versus the Kings’ starting lineup
Against Dhawan and Bairstow, Cummins has a strong track record. Cummins has dismissed both of the batters twice in the 25 deliveries he has bowled to them, but he has also let Bairstow and Dhawan score 31 and 16 runs, respectively.
Dhawan would be better served pursuing Jaydev Unadkat, who has amassed 70 runs off of 44 balls in the Indian Premier League despite only having one wicket taken.
The Sunrisers have the best victory percentage (66.67%) of any club while playing the Kings, with a commanding 14-7 record.
Two Sunrisers hitters, Klaasen (204.85) and Abhishek (217.56), have strike rates of more than 200 in 2024 (minimum 100 runs). The greatest strike rate from Kings is 161.53, achieved by Prabhsimran Singh.
