The India–Pakistan cricket rivalry is one of the most intense sports rivalries in the world.
India and Pakistan had a famous rivalry that dominated cricket ever since it began to be covered by mainstream media. This rivalry, which may be dated to the 1950s, has persisted throughout test cricket, ODIs, and T20 matches. The India-Pakistan series used to have the highest cricket odds in Canada due to the intensity and excitement of the matches. But this rivalry has diminished over time and India has long outgrown Pakistan in the world championships.
And the reason Pakistan can’t seem to catch up to India in cricket is because of the senior players in the national cricket team who get jealous of the successful junior cricketers, as one of their former opening batsman Ahmed Shehzad, says in a recent interview. He also states that the way Indian cricketers like Virat Kohli were brought up and nurtured by senior players like MS Dhoni, is not the case in Pakistan National Cricket Team, but the situation is quite the opposite of a nurturing environment.

India-Pakistan Head-to-Head records
Match Type | Matches Played | India win | Pakistan win | Draw |
Test | 59 | 9 | 12 | 38 |
ODI | 132 | 55 | 73 | 4 |
T20i | 9 | 6 | 2 | 1 |
Total | 200 | 70 | 87 | 43 |
Although the rivalry between India and Pakistan still exists, it has been less intense in recent years.
Tournament | Matches Played | India win | Pakistan win | Draw |
World Cup | 7 | 7 | 0 | 0 |
T20 World Cup | 6 | 4 | 1 | 1 |
Champions Trophy | 5 | 2 | 3 | 0 |
Total | 18 | 13 | 4 | 1 |
As you can probably see from the chart above, with the exception of one shocking setback in the Champions Trophy final in England, India has won every match against Pakistan. The rivalry, as a result, has recently become nearly one-sided.
India improves, takes on other rivals
The rivalry is now over since India, as world champions in cricket, has begun to win a lot more matches than they were previously, and has developed a strong rivalry with Australia, England, and South Africa. These teams are excellent opponents for India, and the matches have become considerably closer, hard-fought, and intense.
For starters, India now only plays Pakistan in multilateral tournaments such as the Asia Cup, World Cup, and Champions Trophy, among others. Furthermore, because of ongoing political tensions between the two countries, India has not faced Pakistan in a head-to-head series in a long time.

Pakistan is stuck, not winning matches
Following Ahmed Shehzad’s remark, we can see why the Pakistani cricket team has been suffering in their rivalry with India.
Rashid Latif, a former captain of Pakistan’s cricket team, spoke up on the issue last year, right before the T20 World Cup. “No matter how good Pakistan plays, they won’t win until India makes mistakes,” he argues. He went on to explain that he had previously captained the Pakistani Cricket Team and that it is a strategy to cause the opponent to make mistakes.

Is it possible that this great rivalry will continue?
In the current situation, the disparity in height and popularity between Indian and Pakistani cricketers is maybe the greatest it has ever been.
It has gotten to the point that Indian supporters might be forgiven for not knowing the names of any cricketer on Pakistan’s team, rather than seeing them as equals.
Because India has not only grown in the international cricket rankings but also player individual batting and bowling-wise too. The squad has increased substantially over the years, reflecting India’s unequaled dominance over the sport.
So if the fans want to see the legendary rivalry come back to life again, the Pakistani cricket team has to make improvements, adjust their conduct and views of the successful players, and practice to get in the form they were all these years.
