India take on New Zealand in the first match of the two-match Test series.
India will play New Zealand in a two-match Test series starting November 25 at home, following a 3-0 clean sweep of the T20I series. India will be seeking to maintain their good home record against the Black Caps after losing in the World Test Championship final to New Zealand.
The Black Caps have yet to win a Test series in India, but they will be hoping to change that against a depleted Indian team. In the 34 Test matches between India and New Zealand that have taken place in India, the hosts have won 16 and lost two, with 16 Tests ending in a draw.
Only Rahane, Cheteshwar Pujara, and Mayank Agarwal have played more than 10 Tests in the batting line-up for the opening Test. If Agarwal performs well, it will keep KL Rahul on his toes, and if Shubman Gill performs well, the club management will be interested in placing him in the middle order when the two regular openers return.
