Chris Duarte, a rookie for the Indiana Pacers, started the season opener against the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday and made some history in the process.

In 33 minutes of play, Duarte had 27 points, five rebounds, one assist, and one steal. During the 123-122 loss, he shot 9-of-15 from the field, including 6-of-9 from 3-point range, as the Pacers lost a 23-point lead in the third quarter.

Duarte had previously been complimented by Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle for being a courageous player on the court, and he demonstrated that on Wednesday. He got out to a fast start, scoring 11 points in the opening quarter alone, and he appeared to have found his stride for the rest of the game.

The Pacers expected Duarte to play a big role early in the season, and his remarkable debut on Wednesday showed just how good he can be on the court. Despite the fact that the squad lost, Duarte demonstrated that he is capable of delivering this year.
