In his 108 out of 51 deliveries, the middle-order batsman hammered eight sixes and 10 fours as the hosts, who won the opening T20 by five wickets, posted a huge 238 for three in their 20 overs after first being put in to bat at Mount Maunganui.

Despite fast bowler Keemo Paul returning the worst figures among them, conceding 64 off his four overs, none of the West Indies bowlers could make an impact.
For the third wicket, the 23-year-old Phillips added 184 with Devon Conway, who made an unbeaten 65 out of 37 deliveries.

On Monday, the third and final T20 will be played at the same venue before the sides play a two-Test series starting in Hamilton on Thursday.
