New Zealand’s largest city took out the category at the biennial SportBusiness Ultimate Sports Cities Awards. Overall it ranked as the fourth-best sports city, behind only New York, London, and Melbourne.

It is the second time on the trot that Auckland has won the medium category – 1.3 million to 3 million population – have also picked up the honor at the 2014 awards.
