Kostas Tsimikas has been named PSAP Greek Player of the Year for 2019-20.

The 24-year-old left-back made 46 appearances for Olympiakos. Leading up to his summer move to Anfield, the Liverpool defender was remembered by his fellow professionals for his form for Olympiacos last season.

In the PSAP Team of the Year, Tsimikas was also called for the same initiative, which was again voted for by players within the Greek leagues. Xherdan Shaqiri assisted with the presentation of the prizes to his Reds teammate, handing them over to an unsuspecting Tsimikas at the AXA Training Centre.

Tsimikas made his senior debut for Olympiacos in December 2015 and went on to make 86 appearances for the Greek side in all competitions. More than half of those games came in 2019-20 as the defender helped his club reclaim the domestic title by an 18-point margin.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp stated after the signing of the Greek star: He’s got a great attitude about winning and competing, and I just like that mindset. Kostas was a part of the domestic success of Olympiacos and its European run. He knows what is needed to play in the UEFA Champions League from personal experience.
