It was an interesting match of football, as Barcelona came from behind to hold Real Madrid at 1-1.
Real Madrid started the game in the best possible way and got the lead through Lucas Vazquez as early at the sixth minute of the game. However, Barcelona kept pushing for the equalizing goal after going down, and finally got their reward when Malcolm made the most of his rare start to nullify the Los Blancos’ advantage in the 57th minute of the game.
Both teams had a number of opportunities to score during the concluding stages of the game. However, they failed to make most of them and will have all to play for when they meet for the second leg on February 28th.
Barcelona enjoyed 57% of possession during the game and had three shots on target as compared to Real Madrid’s two.
The Blaugrana are currently at the top of the La Liga table, six points clear of their closest rivals, Athletico Madrid. Their superstar, Lionel Messi could only be fit enough to be on the bench and replaced the misfiring Phillipe Coutinho in the second half.

On the other hand, Real Madrid is currently third in the La Liga table, eight points behind their rivals Barcelona. They started to improve under Santiago Solari, after struggling during the initial few weeks of the season under their ex-manager, Julen Lopetegui.
The Los Blancos will play their local rivals, Atletico Madrid, in the league next before making a trip to the Netherlands to play AFC Ajax for the first leg of the Champions League Round-of-16 match.
