Mbappé’s Double Stuns Barcelona as Real Madrid Take El Clásico

Real Madrid wins El Clásico with Mbappé brace!

Key summary: Real Madrid beat Barcelona 2–1 at Camp Nou, with Kylian Mbappé scoring either side of Raphinha’s equaliser. The result ended Barcelona’s perfect start to the league season and reopened the title race.

El Clásico rarely needs extra drama, but this one delivered right to the end. Barcelona began with the confidence of a side that had won every league game so far; Madrid answered with patience, sharp counterattacks and the kind of resilience that matters in a hostile stadium.

Mbappé opened the scoring shortly before half-time, though fortune played its part: Gerard Martín’s attempted clearance struck the forward and bounced into the net. Barcelona responded after the break. Pedri picked out Raphinha, who curled a composed finish past Andriy Lunin to level the score and send the home crowd roaring.

For a spell, Barcelona looked ready to turn the match around. They pushed forward in search of a winner, but that urgency left space behind. Real Madrid seized it late on: Eduardo Camavinga drove forward on the counter, then cut the ball back for Mbappé to finish in the 87th minute. It was a clinical, punishing answer to Barcelona’s pressure—and Mbappé’s second goal of the night.

Key performances

• Kylian Mbappé: The decisive presence, scoring twice and turning Madrid’s counterattacks into a match-winning threat.
• Eduardo Camavinga: His forceful late run created the opening for the winner, a vital contribution in a tense finish.
• Raphinha: Kept Barcelona in the contest with a clever run and a confident curling finish.
• Pedri: Supplied the incisive pass that set up Barcelona’s equaliser.

Madrid left Camp Nou with more than bragging rights: they had shown they could absorb pressure and strike at exactly the right moment. For Barcelona, the defeat is a sharp reminder that a bright start counts for little in a title race with plenty of twists left.
