16-year-old Rio Ngumoha with his first Premier League goal for Liverpool!
Rio Ngumoha, who is only 16 years and 135 days old, made history on his Liverpool debut by becoming the youngest player to start a competitive game in the team’s history during their 4-0 FA Cup victory over Accrington Stanley on Saturday.

The young forward is 130 days older than Jerome Sinclair, who made his debut in September 2012 at the age of 16 and 5 days. He was hauled off the field by head coach Arne Slot after 71 minutes of his senior debut at Anfield, making him the second youngest player to ever play for the Reds.
Born on August 29, 2008, in London, Ngumoha enrolled in Chelsea’s academy at the age of eight. Following his progression through the Blues’ academy age groups, he scored in Chelsea’s U17 Premier League Cup final last April.
The adolescent joined Liverpool’s academy after leaving west London under dubious circumstances in September of last year. This season, he has mostly played for the U18 Premier League and UEFA Youth League under-18 and under-19 sides.
In his post-game interview with ITV Sport, Liverpool head coach Arne Slot complimented Ngumoha after deciding to give the 16-year-old his senior debut on Saturday. “He did well,” the Dutchman added. Fans were able to observe why we believe he is talented in a few instances. He does well in one-on-one settings.
Compared to the second half, he displayed a little more in the first half. It feels good to make your debut and win. For him, today is a momentous day.
