Allardice thus replaced Manu Sawhney, who had resigned from his position in July.
On Sunday, the International Cricket Council (ICC) named temporary Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Geoff Allardice as the organization’s permanent CEO. Allardice had been in the position for more than eight months on an interim basis.

Allardice, a former first-class cricketer who played 14 matches for Victoria in Australian domestic cricket between 1991 and 1994, succeeds Manu Sawhney, who was stripped of his duties in July with immediate effect after serving a four-month suspension.

“It’s an honor to be named CEO of the International Cricket Council, and I’d like to thank Greg and the ICC Board for the opportunity to lead the sport as we enter an exciting new chapter of growth,” Allardice said in a statement released by the governing organization.
