Manu Bhaker clinched a bronze medal in shooting, becoming the first Indian woman to achieve this feat.
Manu Bhaker opened India’s medal account on Sunday with a bronze in the 10m Air Pistol women’s individual final.
At the Paris Olympic Games in 2024, shooter Manu Bhaker had started the Indian team’s medal count with a bronze in the 10m Air Pistol final, therefore the country was anticipating a Super Monday. Due to a pistol malfunction, Bhaker did not receive a medal at the Tokyo Games, but he made up for it by winning India’s first medal in Paris. On Monday, Rhythm Sangwan-Arjun Cheema Singh lost their 10m air pistol mixed team event bronze medal match, while Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh advanced. Arjun Babuta placed fourth in the men’s individual 10m Air Rifle final, while shooter Ramita Jindal came in seventh, missing out on a medal. The men’s archery team also suffered a defeat in their quarterfinal matchup with Turkey.
