Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami has been awarded the Arjuna Award for his outstanding performance over the past year, including in the recently concluded ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
Mohammed Shami, a bowler for Team India, received the Arjuna Award on Monday in recognition of his valiant efforts during the last year and in the just-finished ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Mohammed Shami received the honour from Indian President Droupadi Murmu. At Rashtrapati Bhawan, Mohammed Shami was presented with the prize. Top athletes from India are recognised with this honour.

Mohammed Shami was given the accolade in recognition of his outstanding 2023 season and 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup performance. Mohammed Shami was the tournament’s highest wicket scorer at the end. Mohammed Shami broke numerous records and claimed 24 wickets in the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup.
Mohammed Shami was brilliant during the past year, as he claimed 43 wickets in 19 ODIs that he played and also picked up 13 wickets in four tests he played in 2023.
