After paying a club-record fee of roughly 72 million pounds for Ivory Coast forwards Nicolas Pepe in 2019, Havertz would be Arsenal’s second-most expensive transfer.

After two productive seasons with Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen, Germany international Havertz was bought by Chelsea on a five-year contract in 2020 for roughly 71 million pounds.

He won the Champions League in his first season with Chelsea, scoring the game-winning goal against Manchester City in the 2021 final.

Havertz scored 14 goals in the 2021-22 season while playing in multiple places in the front line and midfield, but he only scored nine times last season as Chelsea struggled to score under three different managers and finished 12th in the table.
