England vs India: Jasprit Bumrah surpasses Kapil Dev to become fastest India pacer to 100 Test victims
On day five of the fourth Test against England at the Oval on Monday (September 6), star India pacer Jasprit Bumrah made history by becoming the country’s fastest quick to reach 100 Test wickets.

Bumrah, who only managed a couple of wickets in the first innings and finished with 99 wickets, had to wait till the second innings to hit the 100-wicket mark. In the second essay, the speedster had to wait for 64 overs to join the special club, but it was well worth the wait.

Bumrah topped the legendary Kapil Dev, who reached the 100-wicket mark in 1980 after 25 Tests. When Bumrah cleaned up Ollie Pope, he hit a major milestone (2). He made his Test debut against South Africa in Cape Town in January 2018 and has been a key member of Virat Kohli’s Indian team since then. Bumrah is now 22nd on India’s all-time list of Test wicket-takers, trailing only spin legend Anil Kumble (619 wickets).

In the very next over, Bumrah produced an even better yorker delivery and scattered the stumps of England’s wicket-keeper batsman Jonny Bairstow. Bairstow was clean bowled for a duck and Bumrah was on fire.
