A moment of pride for Indian badminton as India has been allotted the rights to host 2026 BWF World Championships after 17 year
India was scheduled to organize the Sudirman Cup in 2023 but the Badminton World Federation decided to award the hosting rights of the world mixed team championships to China.
The Sudirman Cup was supposed to be held in India in 2023, however, the Badminton Global Federation opted to give China the hosting rights to the world mixed team championships.
“The BWF World Mixed Team Championships will now be held in Suzhou in 2023, with initial 2023 hosts India accepting the chance to host the BWF World Championships in 2026,” the BWF announced in a press statement.
“The Badminton World Federation (BWF) can announce that the TotalEnergies BWF Sudirman Cup Finals 2023 will be held in Suzhou, China.
“The championships were scheduled to be held in Suzhou in 2021, however owing to the BWF’s inability to hold any events in China this year, the event was moved to Vantaa, Finland.”
