Liam Hughes has signed a new contract with Liverpool FC.

Liverpool is working on multiple fronts on transfer deadline day and another young goalkeeper has been added to the collection for the Under-23s. The goalkeeper joined the Reds in January to strengthen the U23 squad.

In February, he made his U23s debut in a 4-0 win over Arsenal before being selected on the bench for the main team’s match against Sheffield United the following day.

The 19-year-old Northern Ireland U21 international has been called up to the senior teams for the previous two matches, including last week’s matches against Malta and Ukraine.

‘Going forward, I’d like to be as engaged with the first team as possible, as well as continue to improve my own game as much as possible.’

‘Being around everything at the highest level is such a great experience, especially traveling up to Aberdeen and being in and around the dressing room for those big games, soaking up the excitement.’
