The Portuguese’s second-half penalty against Lazio also saw him become the fastest player to reach a half-century of finishes for 25 years.
Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo has become the fastest player to score 50 goals in the Serie A in over 25 years. He reached this landmark moment during Juventus’ 2-1 win over rivals Lazio on Monday (local time). The 35-year-old also became the first player to bag 50 goals in the Premier League, La Liga and now in Serie A.
During Juve’s clash against Lazio, Ronaldo scored a brace – one of them being a spot-kick. With that pental goal, Cristiano also equaled Giuseppe Signori’s record for most penalty goals in a season in 1994-95 – 12 goals.
Maurizio Sarri’s men are currently hunting down yet another Italian league title, with Lazio and Atalanta still being a handful of sides breathing down their neck as Serie A reaches the final weeks of action.
In the game, Ronaldo scored two second-half goals in minute 51 and 54 for the Turin giants before Ciro Immobile halved the deficit in the 83rd minute for the eagles. Ronaldo also became the first Juve player since 1952 to score 30 goals in a SerieA season.
