According to Adam Zagoria Purdue will again participate in the Gavitt Games.
From a report by New York Times Sports and Forbes Sports’ Adam Zagoria (who knew Forbes had a sports section), Purdue will play in the Gavitt Games again during the men’s basketball season 2020-2021. The Gavitt Games are, if you don’t recall, a Wide Ten-Big East crossover episode where not everyone gets to play.
The only addition is that the Gavitt Games is now confirmed. As Travis rightly pointed out in his previous post the contract for the Gavitt Games was for two home games and two road games and Purdue has already played both of their road games in this series. That means Purdue can expect a home game in the series assuming there’s no funny business afoot.
Possible Game opponents are mentioned above. Only based on recent experience, a few look doubtful. Purdue appeared in both the 2017 & 2019 Gavitt Games at Marquette and a repeat at Mackey Arena would seem unlikely. Both Purdue and Butler compete at the Crossroads Classic every single year and although they don’t meet in 2020-2021.
