The New Zealand Black Caps have announced their Twenty20 squad for the highly anticipated home series against India.
Mitchell Santner will captain an expanded 16-player squad across the five-match series; however, a significant player will be unavailable. Rachin Ravindra sustained a right shoulder dislocation during a photoshoot the previous week and has been ruled out for a minimum of six weeks. The all-rounder is anticipated to return in time for the one-day international series commencing on 4 November.

Thirteen players from the squad that finished as runners-up in this year’s T20 World Cup have been selected, including Michael Bracewell and Adam Milne, both of whom were unavailable for the tournament due to injury. Milne’s last appearance for New Zealand occurred against Zimbabwe more than twelve months ago, and he strengthens a roster of experienced fast bowlers comprising Lockie Ferguson, Matt Henry, Kyle Jamieson, and Jacob Duffy, alongside emerging talents Zak Foulkes and Nathan Smith.
Dynamic opening batsmen Tim Seifert and Finn Allen will be paired at the top of the order for the first time since their outstanding World Cup performance, during which Allen struck an unbeaten century from merely 33 deliveries against South Africa in the semi-final while Seifert contributed 58 runs from 33 balls as the team secured a nine-wicket victory. Ben Sears was excluded from consideration as he continues his recovery from an ankle injury. The teams will contest the opening match at Hagley Oval, marking their first encounter since the World Cup final in March.
