J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday congratulated cricketer Auqib Nabi from Jammu and Kashmir for earning a place in the Indian cricket team for the forthcoming Test series against Sri Lanka.
The Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah gave a shoutout to Jammu & Kashmir cricketer Auqib Nabi for making it into the Indian team for the upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka.
On X, the LG J&K’s office praised Auqib Nabi for his selection to the Indian squad for the Test matches.
“It’s a proud and happy moment for Jammu & Kashmir. I wish him the best and hope he does awesome while representing our country,” LG Manoj Sinha wrote in the post. CM Omar Abdullah called this achievement a proud moment for J&K and showed how much sporting talent is coming from the area.

So, this 29-year-old fast bowler totally crushed it in the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy season, racking up 60 wickets in just 10 games and even had seven matches where he took five wickets! In the past two seasons, Nabi’s taken 104 wickets, making him one of the top red-ball bowlers in India.
His amazing performances during the knockout rounds were super important for Jammu & Kashmir because they won their first-ever Ranji Trophy title.

The selectors also noticed his solid play for India A in Sri Lanka, where he grabbed six wickets in two unofficial Tests, including a game with four wickets.
Auqib called his first-ever India Test call-up “a dream come true” and thanked everyone who’s been there for him. He said he’ll do everything he can to live up to the trust people have in him and to make India proud. He credits his success to the Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA).
