Shubman Gill creates history, breaks Virat Kohli’s record with 4000 IPL runs.
Shubman Gill, the captain of the Gujarat Titans, made Indian Premier League history by being the youngest player to reach 4,000 runs. At the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium on Sunday, he reached the milestone with his 25th run during his knock against the Lucknow Super Giants.
After KL Rahul, who reached 4,000 IPL runs in 105 innings, the graceful right-hander became the second-fastest Indian to do so in 118 innings. Except for Rahul, only Chris Gayle (112 innings), David Warner (114), and Jos Buttler (116) have accomplished the feat more quickly than Gill.
Now leading the Titans, Gill has registered 27 half-centuries and four hundreds in the tournament, with a significant majority of those fifties (17) and all his centuries coming for the 2022 champions. As of April 2026, Shubman Gill has accumulated 869 runs in 36 T20I matches. He is a dominant force in the IPL with 4,031 runs in 121 matches. His T20 career highlights include a stellar IPL 2023 season with 890 runs and a 2025 campaign where he scored 650 runs as captain of the Gujarat Titans.
