Bangladesh then made quick work of New Zealand’s top order, dismissing Martin Guptill (20), Henry Nicholls (13), and Will Young (1) to reduce them to 53-3. Mahedi Hasan dismissed both Nicholls and YounG.
Bangladesh’s start, on the other hand, was less than positive, with Liton Das being dismissed for a duck in the second over of the match by Matt Henry. Soumya Sarkar joined Iqbal in the center, but the two left-handers struggled to score easily when Trent Boult took the ball away and Henry brought it back. Since both Boult and Henry threw in a bouncer now and then, the batsmen were unable to commit.
