The win started New Zealand’s push this season to win all four of its home tests against the West Indies and Pakistan, which could raise it to the top two in the test rankings, based on the Australia-India series.
The first move of its home summer task was achieved by New Zealand when it defeated the West Indies by an innings and 134 runs on Sunday on the fourth morning of the first cricket test.
