NBA Cup 2025: Spurs rout Lakers 132-119 in NBA Cup quarterfinals!
The San Antonio Spurs defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 132-119 on Wednesday at crypto.com Arena in a pivotal match that combined the 2025–26 NBA Regular Season with the Emirates NBA Cup Quarterfinals.
Despite a game-high 35 points from 11/24 field goals, Slovenian sensation Luka Doncic was unable to keep the hosts’ Cup hopes alive. He contributed eight assists, five rebounds, and one steal in just under 41 minutes.

The Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the Phoenix Suns 138-89 earlier in the game at Paycom Centre. Off the bench, Belgian Ajay Mitchell scored nine points, and Frenchman Ousmane Dieng scored eleven. Serbian Nikola Topic (therapy for testicular cancer) and German Isaiah Hartenstein (right soleus strain) were left out.
Luka Doncic scored 35 points, and LeBron James had 19 points, 15 rebounds and eight assists for the Lakers, who lost for only the third time in 12 games. Los Angeles trimmed its deficit to eight points late in the fourth quarter, but couldn’t get closer.

Marcus Smart scored a season-high 26 points with eight 3-pointers for the Lakers, and Austin Reaves had 15 points. The Lakers won the inaugural NBA Cup in 2023, and they went unbeaten through group play this fall before running into the Spurs.
San Antonio made a 17-2 run and jumped to an 18-point lead in the second quarter, with Castle and Harrison Barnes exploiting Los Angeles’ season-long struggles in perimeter shooting defence.
Victor Wembanyama missed his 12th straight game with a calf injury, but he travelled with the Spurs.
