Indian cricket team bowling coach Morne Morkel believes that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma can play in the 2027 ODI World Cup.

In that case, Morne Morkel, the bowling coach for the Indian cricket team, thinks they can participate in the 2027 ODI World Cup. The two veterans will represent India in the upcoming ODI series against South Africa, which commences on Sunday. They have previously retired from both Tests and Twenty20 Internationals. According to Morkel, Virat and Rohit contribute a plethora of experience to the team, which may be beneficial in the long run. Morkel had a direct response when questioned about the two stars’ chances of competing in the World Cup.

“They are excellent athletes, as long as they are willing to work hard and stay in shape. Experience is what I’ve always believed in, and you can’t find it anywhere else. Morkel told reporters, “They’ve won trophies; they know how to play big tournaments.”
“So for sure, if they mentally and physically feel that their bodies can do that, it’s still a long way away-the World Cup, by all means,” he said. Morkel also talked about his personal encounters with the two elite hitters, claiming that they used to keep him up at night.
“Different energy is brought about by changing into colored clothes and a different ball.” However, a self-assured Protea team poses a threat, and South Africa has momentum. For us, it’s critical to move over the previous few weeks and get off to a strong start over the following week or two. Even though the 2026 T20 World Cup is a major event, Morkel rejected the notion of using the ODI series as a training ground.
“Getting ready for the T20 World Cup is one thing, but every time you put on an India jersey, you represent a lot of people, the fans waiting outside the gates, cheering us on,” he remarked.
