The 22-year NBA veteran LeBron James is just 18 points shy of reaching 50,000 career points – regular season and playoffs combined.
With an average of 29.3 points on 55.5% shooting and 44.3% from 3-point range over 11 games in February, LeBron is playing some of his finest basketball of the season and is on the approach of reaching the milestone.

His best shooting percentages since March 2024 (57.1% FG, 45.5% 3P) and highest scoring average in a calendar month since January 2022 (33.8 ppg) are both recorded during this month.
LeBron also became the first player in NBA history to score 40 points or more in several games at the age of 40 or older in February. On February 21, 2003, Michael Jordan recorded a game-high 43 points, making him the only other 40-year-old to score 40 points or more.

Playing at an All-Star level in his 22nd season – ranked 13th in scoring and 5th in assists – LeBron continues to defy Father Time and push the records he’s already set even higher for future generations to chase.
LeBron ranks first in total field goals made (18,282), second in total free throws made (10,414) behind only Karl Malone and fifth in total 3-pointers made behind Steph Curry, James Harden, Ray Allen and Klay Thompson.
The Lakers have won five straight games going into tonight’s game against the Clippers, and they are a league-best 17-4 since January 15 to move up to third place in the Western Conference. LeBron has 24 games left in the regular season and a probable postseason run to add to his career totals, especially because the Lakers are in a position to secure a certain playoff spot with a top-six finish.
There is more to it than that; no player in NBA history has ever played for 23 seasons. LeBron has already experienced several firsts throughout his career. And when he established the 50,000 total point club in Los Angeles, another can be accomplished today.
