Kerr has been named the world’s best player after an excellent year in T20I cricket, highlighted by a Player of the Tournament performance in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, when she powered New Zealand to their first T20 World Cup victory. The 24-year-old is only the second New Zealander to win the accolade, following in the footsteps of her World Cup-winning colleague Suzie Bates, who earned it in 2016.

Melie Kerr’s T20I record for 2024: 387 runs and 29 wickets in 18 matches.
Kerr averaged 24.18 runs per game and had a strike rate of only 13.6 wickets in 18 matches this year. Kerr’s 29 wickets in a calendar year are the most by a New Zealand woman cricketer in history.
Her 15 wickets in the UAE tournament are the most ever taken by a single bowler at an ICC Women’s T20I World Cup, and she averaged 7.33 with an economy rate of 4.85 across six matches, making her the competition’s standout bowler.
