The Thunder took over the top spot in the NBA’s power rankings.
The Oklahoma City Thunder have had a strong start to the season. After an offseason filled with deals, significant signings, and draft picks, the organisation garnered a lot of praise. After easily defeating the Denver Nuggets on opening night, Oklahoma City has gone on a winning streak to begin the season 6-0. The Thunder’s toughest victory came on Saturday night in Los Angeles, when they defeated a tough Clippers club on the second night of a back-to-back.
The Thunder’s young team is off to the finest start in franchise history. The scary aspect is that the crew also left a lot of meat on the bone.
Oklahoma City’s defence is head and shoulders above the competition, ranking first in defensive nett rating by a significant margin. The club is second in the league overall nett rating despite having the No. 15 rated offence, demonstrating how dominant the defence has been.
Oklahoma City is also playing at a high pace (good for sixth in the NBA), which might be attributed to the team’s deflections and turnovers. It feels like the whole squad recognises and understands its identity, and each player offers something unique to the floor.
Because the NBA power rankings are updated weekly, it’s hardly surprising that Oklahoma City has risen to the top. In actuality, however, Boston remains the league’s greatest team. The Thunder can only control what they can manage, and a perfect 6-0 start is an excellent way to get people’s attention. Oklahoma City is well on its way to meeting its lofty ambitions this season.
