After missing out on action due to injury, Lionel Messi had a successful comeback on Saturday night, scoring his 13th and 14th goals in Major League Soccer and dishing out his 14th assist. Inter Miami recovered an early deficit to defeat the Philadelphia Union 3-1.
Luis Suarez extended his team’s lead to 17 goals in stoppage time in the second half, keeping him two goals behind Christian Benteke of DC for the MLS Golden Boot and preserving Miami’s lead in the Supporters’ Shield competition.

Messi hadn’t played in a competitive game since July 14 due to an ankle ligament injury, and he had last played for Miami on June 1 before leaving for Argentina’s Copa America campaign.
However, he quickly established himself and overcame Miami’s early deficit.
With his back to the goal, Suarez accepted Alba’s entry pass in the 26th minute and laid the ball to his left with his first touch. After accepting the layoff, Messi sidestepped Kai Wagner’s challenge and beat Andrew Rick with a low shot.
