Premier League title race: Will Arsenal, Liverpool or Manchester City win?

Analysing the list and predicting the results as Liverpool and Arsenal try to topple Man City in the closest race in years.

It appeared as though Arsenal would win the Premier League for the first time since 2004 at this time last year. Unfortunately for the long-suffering Gunners faithful, Manchester City once again won the title after Mikel Arteta’s promising young team ran out of steam in the final stages.

The champions are favourites to win it all again this year, but as April draws near, they’re facing more pressure than they did the previous year because Arsenal leads Liverpool on goal differential and has unexpectedly become a real title contender in what was supposed to be a season of change at Anfield.

The Premier League title race is heating up as Liverpool and Arsenal try to dethrone defending champions Manchester City. Last year, it looked like Arsenal would win the league for the first time since 2004, but they fell short and City won the title again. This season, however, Arsenal leads Liverpool on goal difference and has emerged as a serious contender for the championship. As of March 31, the top three teams in the Premier League are Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City, with only one point separating them.

Below is a list of the remaining fixtures for each team:

Liverpool: Brighton (H), Sheffield United (H), Aston Villa (H), Leeds United (A), Newcastle United (A), Manchester United (H), Southampton (A), West Bromwich Albion (H), Burnley (A), Crystal Palace (H)

Manchester City: Arsenal (H), Aston Villa (H), Leeds United (A), Chelsea (H), Newcastle United (A), Brighton (H), Crystal Palace (A), Everton (A), Tottenham Hotspur (H)

Arsenal: Manchester City (A), Luton Town (H), Tottenham Hotspur (A), West Ham United (H), Liverpool (A), Aston Villa (A), Wolverhampton Wanderers (A), Watford (H), Manchester United (H), Everton (H)

There are two prediction models for the final Premier League table: Gracenote and Opta. According to Gracenote, Manchester City is the most likely team to win, followed by Liverpool and then Arsenal. However, according to Opta, Manchester City is also the most likely team to win, followed by Liverpool and Arsenal.

There have been only a few three-way Premier League title races where the teams were separated by just two points towards the end of the season. In 2013-14, Liverpool, Manchester City, and Chelsea were separated by two points, but City won their game in hand to take the title. In 2001-02, Arsenal led Liverpool by a point with Manchester United a further point back, but Arsenal won their next 11 games and secured the title by beating United at Old Trafford.
