Sanju Samson: A star reborn of Indian Cricket.
In Thursday’s third and final ODI in Paarl, Team India defeated South Africa by 78 runs thanks to the inspirational play of Sanju Samson. After being asked to bat first, Samson seized the moment to smash his first century in international cricket—a 110-ball century—and lead India to 296/8 from 50 overs.

The Proteas, in response, were given some hope when Aiden Markram (36), Tony de Zorzi (81), and others shared 65 runs between them, reaching 141/3 at one point. But Arshdeep Singh made a sort of comeback, dismissing de Zorzi in the 30th over, which altered the course of the match.

The star of the day was Sanju Samson, who has been in and out of the Indian team recently but seems to have instilled confidence in himself with this knock. The 2027 ODI World Cup is still four years away but if Thursday was of any sign, Samson could give a tough time to others vying for a spot.
