Who Will Be the NFL MVP This Season?

Could 2023 Be the Year of the Underdog?

As another new NFL season starts in earnest, fans all over the country and beyond are keenly looking ahead to work out what might happen. As well as trying to predict who will win their conference and the Super Bowl, this is also the perfect time to consider who might be the league’s most valuable player in the coming season.

Patrick Mahomes – Kansas City Chiefs

For many people, Patrick Mahomes is the best quarterback in the NFL bar none now that Tom Brady has retired following an unbelievably successful career. Mahomes chose football over baseball while at Texas Tech and the Chiefs got him in the 2017 draft. His breakout season in 2018 saw him win the NFL MVP award, a feat which he achieved again last year.

Will Patrick once again be regarded as the best player in the football league? He’s won Super Bowl LIV and LVII with the Chiefs and was named as the MVP on both occasions. If he repeats the trick at Super Bowl LVIII then we can probably expect him to be awarded the overall NFL MVP title as well. His season has started badly, though, as Mahomes said he was embarrassed that Kansas lost their first game of the season to the Detroit Lions.

Joe Burrow – Cincinnati Bengals

Having just signed a bumper-sized contract that makes him the highest-paid player in the history of the NFL, there’s a lot of pressure on the shoulders of Joe Burrow to perform to the highest level. He joined in the 2020 draft and after battling through injury issues, he took the Bengals to their first playoff victory in three decades.

The Cincinnati Bengals announced QB Joe Burrow will play this Sunday vs. the Browns.

Analysts are split over the Bengals’ chances this season, with some believing that getting to another Super Bowl is going to be too difficult. If it’s going to be a successful season for Cincinnati then expect Joe to be at the front of it, as they pin their hopes on the QB to lead them to their first-ever Super Bowl win.

Josh Allen – Buffalo Bills

Another of the NFL’s elite QBs, Josh Allen joined the Bills in the 2018 draft and started to fulfil his enormous potential in 2020. This was when he set a new franchise record for touchdowns and passing yards all the while leading them to their first playoff win in far too many years.

With the Bills among the favorites to win the Super Bowl this season, Josh has a tremendous opportunity to stake his claim to being the best quarterback in the league. What are the odds of them getting off to the perfect start? At the time of writing, any football fans making bets on NFL lines will see his team is a hot favorite to win their early-season games and you can also find Josh high on the list of players odds for grabbing the first touchdown in their games.

Micah Parsons – Dallas Cowboys

The list of NFL MVPs is dominated by QBs, as these are the players who have the greatest opportunity to influence the biggest games. However, if you look at players in other key positions, you can either bet on them bucking this trend or put a wager on them winning the offensive or defensive MVP award.

In the case of Micah Parsons, he’s a linebacker who joined the Cowboys in the 2021 draft and was the defensive rookie of the year for his contribution in the 2021 season. He recently congratulated San Francisco 49ers star Nick Bosa on his contract extension and claimed that Bosa was the best player in the league last season, but you can be sure that Micah plans to upstage him this time.

 Jalen Hurts – Philadelphia Eagles

Going back to the QBs who could be this season’s most important player, the speedy Jalen Hurts was part of the team who narrowly lost Super Bowl LVII to the Kansas City Chiefs. It was a game of mixed feelings for Jalen, as he set new records for the most rushing TDs and yards in a Super Bowl but also fumbled the ball leading to a TD for Kansas.

Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts admitted he wasn’t feeling well during the team’s win, but WR A.J. Brown said his stomach hurt for another reason.

Can he go one better this season and lead them to the title? The Eagles may not be the oldest franchise in the NFL but they are among the favorites to win the next Super Bowl. Mac Jones of the New England Patriots pointed out that he’s proud of Hurts, as they played together in the past, and has stated that the WB’s running power and conditioning are among the factors where he stands out from the rest.

Other Players

Of course, at the start of a new NFL season, every player has a chance of making it the best season of their career, which is one of the reasons why we look forward to the games so eagerly. This is a fantastic time for fans who want to look more deeply at the players’ stats and quotes, to get a feel for how the season is going to pan out and who is going to grab the maximum glory.
