On September 12th, 2021, Mohamed Salah joined the Premier League’s illustrious 100 clubs and added his name to an impressive roster that includes the likes of Alan Shearer, Frank Lampard, and Thierry Henry. The prolific Egyptian has achieved this remarkable feat in just 162 matches and is also closing in on Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard’s total of 120 top-flight strikes.
The 29-year old is the third favorite to finish as the division’s top goalscorer in the outright Premier League betting with Betfair with odds of 32/5 and although he faces some stiff competition from the likes of Romelu Lukaku and the returning Cristiano Ronaldo, his early-season form suggests that he’s a legitimate contender in this year’s race for the Golden Boot.
He opened the scoring for the Reds after just 20 minutes at Elland Road and currently looks on course to surpass last season’s total of 22. Liverpool was tipped to ease past Leeds in Betfair’s Premier League Predictions, and having outshot the Whites 30-9, the result rarely looked in doubt.

Although the campaign remains in its early stages, Liverpool appears to be fully rejuvenated following an underwhelming 2020-2021 campaign. Jurgen Klopp’s side sits second in the table and has conceded just a single goal in their opening four top-flight matches.
The Merseyside outfit always provides a threat in the final third, and they have had the highest number of shots so far (100), 16 more than any other side. They’re also averaging 8.3 shots-on-target per game and they’ve delighted their fans with some sumptuous attacking football across the opening four weekends.

Although Salah tends to create many of his own opportunities, he’ll undoubtedly benefit from playing alongside Trent Alexander-Arnold, who has completed an eye-catching 41 crosses so far, ten more than any other Premier League player.
Since returning to the top flight, Salah has fired in 578 shots, hit the woodwork 12 times, and has a shooting accuracy of 44%. He’s averaging 0.62 goals per match and with a number of winnable fixtures on the horizon, his numbers are likely to increase exponentially in the coming weeks.

The former Roma star will face plenty of stiff competition this year as Chelsea’s Lukaku has hit the ground running at Stamford Bridge. The Belgian took just a quarter of an hour to break the deadlock on his second home debut and has already netted three times in just 270 minutes of Premier League football. The 28-year old looks sharper, leaner, and fitter following his spell in Serie A and he’s currently averaging four shots per match.
There was understandably plenty of fanfare surrounding Ronaldo’s return to Old Trafford, and the Portuguese icon wasted little time in reintroducing himself to the Manchester United supporters. The 36-year old is nearing the average professional retirement age, however, with two goals in his first 90 minutes of football, he’s understandably attracted plenty of interest from punters in the top goalscorer market.

Nevertheless, the former Juventus and Real Madrid star is unlikely to find too many defenses as accommodating as Newcastle United’s leaky back-line, and with games against Manchester City, Liverpool, and Spurs on the horizon, he’s unlikely to be afforded anywhere near as much freedom in the final third.
Michail Antonio and Bruno Fernandes currently lead the way in the goalscoring charts, however, Salah has already notched three times and with his side creating multiple chances per 90 minutes, he will fancy his chances of securing a hugely impressive third Premier League Golden Boot. The aforementioned Lukaku and Ronaldo are likely to run him close, however, the Reds have looked hungry throughout August and September and the Egyptian is likely to get plenty more opportunities to add to his tally throughout the course of the campaign.
