Here, we take a look at Dumfries and the other players that could join the Premier League this year.

1) Denzel Dumfries:

Denzel Dumfries was unheard of before Euro 2020 but two goals in Netherlands’ opening two fixtures cemented his place on the international stage. The 25-year-old full-back has been lauded as the next big thing by Eredivisie fans with consistently improving and impressive performances.

Why Denzel Dumfries is the 'next big thing' in Dutch football
Dumfries has been a revelation for the Dutch side in Euro 2020.

Dumfries has only made a handful of appearances for Oranje, but his attacking intent has brought fans to the edge of their seats and struck fear into opposition defenses.

Despite being born in Rotterdam, Dumfries wasn’t always likely to play for the Netherlands. Born to Caribbean parents, Dumfries gained two caps for Aruba but only in unofficial fixtures, meaning he could still represent the Dutch national team.

A marauding right-back, Everton, Newcastle, and Spurs had been linked with the PSV man before Euro 2020 began, but after a number of world-class displays, Bayern Munich has turned their interest to the star. The Dutchman looks set to leave PSV and Dumfries himself has stated that he’s ready for his next step and the Premier League or Bundesliga are his preferred destinations.

2) Jadon Sancho:

It’s amazing that Jadon Sancho seems like a name that has been around for a long time and English fans seem to know all about the youngster, but unless they keenly watch the Bundesliga, they won’t have even scratched the surface.

Sancho has been at his best when wearing Dortmund’s yellow and with a transfer to Manchester United on the horizon, we’ll soon see a lot more of the dynamic winger.

Earlier this year Sancho overcame the odds and became the youngest player in Bundesliga history to reach 50 assists, and the 21-year-old did it in fewer than 100 appearances. Dortmund paid barely £8 million to acquire Sancho’s services in 2018, but after an illustrious start to his time in Germany, his experience and value have soared and he’s likely to become the most expensive signing in British football when he does return to the Premier League.

Even though Sancho never made an appearance for United’s arch-rivals Manchester City, he’s known for his time at the club as a promising youngster and now a regular in the England line-up, he’s ready to return to the North of England and fulfill his promise.

4) Alexander Isak:

A relative unknown before Euro 2020, Alexander Isak has demonstrated expert skills and trickery. The Sweden striker earned a call up to the national side after a breakout La Liga campaign for Real Sociedad, in which the youngster bagged 17 goals in just 34 appearances.

Isak has made a big impression in Euro 2020 for Sweden.

The 21-year-old has lit up the international stage to add to his domestic dominance this season, which has led to interest from major clubs. Jurgen Klopp has been urged to sign the explosive attacker with Liverpool looking to refresh their attack in a bid to regain the Premier League title. Isak is touted as one of the leading prospects in world football and the Anfield crowd would certainly welcome the entertainment and pace Isak would bring.

Borussia Dortmund has a £26 million buy-back clause to re-sign their former prodigy from Sociedad but the Spanish club is keen to work out a deal with the German club to remove the clause.

As the tournament progresses, it will be interesting to see if any other players put in performances to see them included on this list. One thing we can be sure of though, is that whatever happens, we’ll definitely see some fresh talent in the Premier League come to the start of the new season.
