Golf star Tiger Woods was injured Tuesday in a vehicle rollover in Los Angeles County, authorities said.
Woods had to be extricated from the vehicle with the “jaws of life” tools, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement. With unspecified injuries, Woods was admitted to the hospital. The car suffered substantial injury, said the sheriff’s department.
At the scene of the Woods crash, a KABC-TV helicopter revealed a vehicle on its side with the front end badly injured. It seemed that airbags were being deployed. The debris seemed to be on a hillside just off the side of a road.

Anish Mahajan, chief medical officer at the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center where the sportsman underwent emergency surgery by orthopedic trauma specialists, said Woods sustained “significant” injuries “to his right lower extremity” in a statement posted on the golfer’s official Twitter account by his TGR Foundation.
“Additional injuries to the bones of the foot and ankle were stabilized with a combination of screws and pins. Earlier, authorities investigating the car crash said there was no evidence he was impaired at the time.
