The 2020-21 NBA season will begin on Dec. 22.

Teams presumably expected a bit of a layoff between seasons after exiting the NBA’s “bubble” at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. Early reports suggested that the 2020-21 campaign would not begin at the earliest until mid-January and no later than March.

Teams will be back in gymnasiums for training camps beginning Tuesday, Dec. 1, giving them three weeks to prepare before Opening Night. Yep, it’s going to be a fast turnaround.

The 2020-21 NBA timeline:

A 72-game schedule will be played by each team. On Friday, Dec. 4, full game and broadcast schedules for the first half of the season will be announced. In order to preserve flexibility in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, the league will reveal the first and second halves of the season separately.
