IPL 2020: Dream11 is the new IPL title sponsor for upcoming League

The IPL 2020 is set to start from September 19.

Dream11 made a winning bid of Rs 222 crore for the 4.5-month deal after BCCI suspended Chinese firm Vivo’s 5-year contract over the Ladakh tensions.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced Tuesday that fantasy gaming sports platform Dream11 has replaced Vivo as the title sponsor for the 2020 Indian Premier League (IPL), which is to be held in the UAE from September to November.

Dream11 was already among the many sponsors of the IPL, and won the title sponsorship rights with a bid of Rs 222 crore for a four-and-a-half-month deal, according to PTI.

Those in the title sponsorship battle is Unacademy, which bid Rs 210 crore, the Tata group which bid Rs 180 crore, and Byju’s, which bid Rs 125 crore.

The five-year BCCI contract signed in 2018 with Chinese cell phone maker Vivo has been postponed due to rising disputes between the two nations. Vivo’s Rs 440 crore investment per year was almost double what Dream11 has now bided — the total contract signed with the BCCI was worth more than Rs 2,000 crore.
