VIVO IPL 2019: Anrich Nortje and Lungi Ngidi ruled out of IPL

The two teams have faced each other 12 times in the IPL so far, and CSK holds a 9-3 head-to-head win/loss record over SRH.
Except for IPL 2020, Chennai Super Kings qualified for playoffs in every IPL season.

South Africa duo Anrich Nortje and Lungi Ngidi will both miss the IPL after sustaining injuries.

Nortje, who had made his international debut against Sri Lanka earlier this month, has sustained a shoulder injury that has sidelined him for six weeks and will see him miss the entire competition for Kolkata Knight Riders, South Africa team manager Dr. Mohammed Moosajee has confirmed.

Lungi Ngidi IPL
CSK speedster Lungi Ngidi ruled out the tournament due to a side-strain injury.

The 25-year-old, who has 19 wickets in 12 T20s, was snapped up by KKR at the IPL 2019 auction for his base price of INR 20 lakh. KKR has already lost the young pace duo of Kamlesh Nagarkoti and Shivam Mavi to injury, and have called up Sandeep Warrier and KC Cariappa as their replacements.

Alongside Nortje, Lungi Ngidi will also miss the IPL having suffered a side strain in South Africa’s ODI series against Sri Lanka. Moosajee said: “Lungi felt discomfort while bowling during the last ODI against Sri Lanka at Newlands and immediately stopped bowling. Further scans revealed a Grade II muscle strain which will need up to four weeks of rest followed by a rehab programme leading up to the World Cup.”
